Select investors get a sneak peek at N36 start-ups at Venture Preview Night hosted by Google

A small group of angel investors, venture capitalists and program supporters were given the opportunity to see what the 2013 cohort of The Next 36 has been working on the past 7 months in advance of Venture Day on August 13 at MaRS Discovery District . The event was held at Google in downtown Toronto and featured remarks by Chris O'Neil, Managing Director of Google Canada.

Late last year the British satirical site The Daily Mash offered a witty yet valid inquiry on young entrepreneurs. Could shows like Dragons’ Den or Shark Tank be encouraging the creation of “trendy but utterly pointless businesses?"

Maybe, but one stroll throughout the offices of Toronto’s The Next 36 program and those notions can be dismissed.

The Next 36 Searching for its 2014 Cohort of Canada’s Top Young Entrepreneurs

(Toronto – July 8, 2013) The program for Canada’s most promising young entrepreneurs has launched its annual search for the country’s next great business builders. The Next 36, championed by W. Galen Weston, Paul Desmarais Sr., Jimmy Pattison and many others, is now accepting applications for its 2014 cohort. Interested undergraduates and recent grads have until October 7th to submit their application and win a place in Canada’s most innovative, selective and demanding entrepreneurial leadership program.

What is entrepreneurship? That was the question asked to the 70 finalists when they arrived in Toronto for the National Selection Weekend.
Young aspiring entrepreneurs from across the country took turns at the question in Becoming the Next 36, Canada’s entrepreneurial leadership initiative and six-part biweekly webisode.
