Chris has experience in all stages of start-up companies as a founder, investor, CEO, General Counsel, Executive Director and board member. He is a Professional Engineer and Lawyer with a degree in computer engineering from the University of Waterloo, and law from the University of Toronto. He has received a number of awards including Caldwell Partners’ “Top 40 under 40” award. Chris began his career as a corporate and technology lawyer at Faskens in Toronto and founder and President of Cygnus Computer Associates, an enterprise middleware company. After a successful exit of Cygnus, he left Faskens to co-found 724 Solutions, the pioneer in banking technology on mobile phones. At 724 Solutions, he served as President, General Counsel and member of the public board of directors. 724 Solutions raised investments from strategic partners such as Bank of Montreal, Citibank, Bank of America and Sonera, and went on to IPO on NASDAQ and the Toronto Stock Exchange. 724’s IPO was considered to be one of the greatest IPOs in Canadian history, reaching a market cap of several billion dollars. Chris has also served as CEO of Tira Wireless, EVP of Echoworx, Chairman of Sporttesting.com and now helps a number of software companies commercialize their technologies as executive director, board member and operating executive. Chris is also a trustee of the MaRS Innovation Venture Trust.
