Alex Moorhead

Managing Partner, Tandem Expansion Management

Alex Moorhead has 20 years of experience building, managing and investing in high growth companies and is currently Managing Partner of Tandem Expansion Management Inc., an investment firm focused on making growth equity investments in Canadian technology businesses.

Prior to joining Tandem Expansion, Alex co-founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of LMG, a London, England based marketing services business which owns and operates large scale customer loyalty programs in the UK, Italy, South America and the Middle East under the Nectar and Air Miles brands. Under Alex’s leadership LMG grew from a start-up to a highly cash generative business with revenues in excess of $400 million in five years time. LMG was acquired by Groupe Aeroplan (TSX:AER) in December 2007 in a cash transaction valuing the company at $755 million. Alex began his career as part of the start-up management team at The Loyalty Group which owns and operates the Air Miles program in Canada. The Loyalty Group was acquired by Alliance Data Systems (NYSE:ADS) in August 1998 in a cash transaction valuing the company at $250 million.

Alex has also worked in corporate finance at Montgomery Securities in San Francisco (now Banc of America Securities) and SG Warburg in New York (now part of UBS) where he worked on a wide variety of transactions including buy-and-sell side mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings, and restructurings.

Alex currently serves on the board of directors of several Canadian technology companies and actively supports several youth related charities in the Toronto area.

Alex earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Queen's University in 1991 and an MBA from Northwestern University (Kellogg) in 1997.
