Isabelle Deschamps is an accomplished Expert Mentor to High-tech SMEs and a highly credible Advisor to Governmental Agencies and Not-for-Profit Organizations supporting Technological Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Isabelle had a career spanning more than 30 years with leadership and entrepreneurial roles in technical innovation and R&D management, New business creation and development, Teaching, Coaching and Venture capitalist investment.

After a career as a Professional Engineer in the steel and aluminum industry, she has been a University Professor and most-wanted speaker, training thousands of technical staff and professionals in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship/Start-up Management at HEC-Montreal, ÉTS and recently at Polytechnique Montreal. For 12 years, she was a Business Development Manager who evaluated 300 projects par year and acts as a coach in more than 60 ventures within in a High-tech Incubator, and a Partner in a $40 million Seed VC Fund that launched and managed a dozens of start-ups, sponsored by Caisse de dépôt. She is a recognized expert in subject matters such as Global technology platform development and commercial deployment; Intellectual property valuation, protection and transfer; and Collaborative innovation ventures. In these areas, she has been a successful entrepreneur, manager and coach to multiple fast-growing SMEs, among which several companies enjoy double digit international sales qrowth, while others were acquired and became the world’s standard established by multinational leaders, in sectors such as Advanced Materials, Medical devices, Instrumentation & Robotics and Clean Technologies.

Over the last 25 years, she volunteered and was as an Expert Advisor and a Member to all kinds of actors in Canada’s and Quebec’s Innovation Ecosystems : Advisory Boards in start-ups and university spin-offs, National Science Councils, Incubator/Accelerator Boards, Research and Technology Transfer Centers’ Advisory Committees and Innovation Steering Committees of Industrial Associations/Clusters. Her focus is on the development of individual entrepreneurial skills and the set-up of the best support conditions for fast business growth driven by technological innovation, free entrepreneurial and creative minds and strong team spirit fuelling collaboration.

Isabelle holds a degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Polytechnique Montreal, an MBA in Production/Operations Management from HEC Montreal and a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) in Technological Innovation Management and Organizational Psychology from Harvard University.
